The following is a real basic HOW-TO on HOSTING your pictures on a site that will allow you to llink them directly and how to POST the pictures on you rthread using the BB code.
The first thing that needs to be done is uploading your picture on the internet. The only catch is that you have to find a host that will allow you to link to them directly. What I mean by that is that some hosts like Angelfire, geocities, Yahoo, MSN, etc, will not allow you to view the picture if you click on it's URL directly. It will only allow you to view the picture is the picture is placed on a web page that belongs to host. Now, though it's hard, there ARE a few hosts out there that will allow you to directly link a picture. The ones that I use all the time and have proven to be very reliable are:
www.photobucket.com
images.geekazoids.net/
If you click on one of these links, you'll see that th einterface is very basic and idiot proof. You simply hit the "browse" button and browse to the location in your hard drive where the picture is located in then hit the "upload" button. This will upload your picture on the internet and it will display the direct link to that picture for you to use. NOTE* The direct link or URL for a picture can be found by right clicking on the picture itself and then clicking on properties. This will bring up a window that will contain an "address" or "url". THIS is the url that you would use when posting your pictures on this bulletin board.
Now that you have your picture up on the net, it's all downhill from here... There are 2 ways of posting your picture here on the board. Once you have the direct url for that picture, meaning that the url will end in whatever file extension the picture is saved as (jpg, gif, bmp, etc), you can do one of the following while writting your post.
1. Simply click on the IMG button on the top of the page. This will insert the IMG tags into your message. From there simply copy and paste your image URL in between those IMG tags. You will see it as something like this: blah.com/blah.jpg [/IMG] without any spaces. That's it.. or....
2. You can simply add the IMG tags yourself. To do that simply type then paste in your image URL (again with no spaces)
That's it, that's all there is to it. Go and give it a shot.
